Yankee Doodle Dash

It's a new 10K PR! 52:44, with a total distance of 6.25 miles, so it's a solid time (my previous PR, 52:51, was on a course that I believe was a little short). I'm quite pleased, even though I finished 4th in my age group and missed out on a medal. (I've placed in all my prior YDDs, even with slower times.). My first three miles were very fast, and my next three were very mediocre (no negative splits today), leaving me with a very acceptable average pace of 8:26 (again, based on the 6.25 distance). Now I am drinking a latte and about to have a small cinnamon roll (hey, I did a 3 mile warm-up and 1 mile cool-down, I can have a cinnamon roll), before taking a nice shower and heading off for the Fourth of July festivities at Rod's folk' house.

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

Congrats on your new PR! Always nice to get. :)

I really need to run that race one of these days. For whatever reason it didn't workout last year, and one week after the marathon, it didn't seem like a good idea.
