The view from my deck chair

It's a rough life, I know. I skipped out of work as quickly as I could this afternoon to fly over to my parents' house and spend a little time at the beach. I thought I might even take a dip in the water, but by the time I got here the tide was already really far in, which meant deeper and colder than I felt like braving. So instead I just settled down on a deck chair with a book* and a magazine and "resigned" myself to some late afternoon lounging. Even though it's a hot day it's always breezy at the beach. I started in the shade but just moved back in the sun for a while. I am getting warm now though... maybe I should go test the water after all!

*I just got The Host by Stephenie Meyer in the mail from Amazon. I brought it along, even though it's a rather heavy hardback, because it seems suited to beach reading!

Looks like a wonderful place to sit and read!

I completely forgot about The Host by Stephenie Meyer... I flew through the Twilight series with such mixed feelings. Loved aspects and hated aspects! I'll have to check out The Host sometime though...

I really enjoyed The Host. It is different than the Twilight series, but she still creates distinct characters that you really care about. I listened to it and it has been my favorite book on tape. I hope you enjoy the book.

Ah... nothing better than reading at the beach!
