Confession

Shortly after writing my earlier post about nutrition, where I implied what an exceptionally clean eater I am, I dove headfirst into a bag of "Hint of Lime" Tostitos in the office kitchen. I couldn't stop myself! I was just lucky that the bag was almost empty, and the chips inside were smallish broken pieces that go a lot further than whole ones. I honestly feel like it was the salt I craved as much as the chips themselves. My rationalization is that my body is begging salt after all my warm weather running and profuse sweating the last few days.

Speaking of salt, I am a little worried how the heat wave may affect the half marathon on Saturday. On the one hand, I fear that I may run slower in the heat than I have been hoping for. On the other hand, I am worried that the heat might make me sick! I am wondering if some salt tablets might be a good idea. I have read other bloggers who take them in hot weather.

I keep telling myself, "other people run in weather much hotter and more humid than this!"

I take Endurolytes when it is hot and humid. But I wouldn't try anything new this week, if I were you. Have you ever drank sports drink during a race? When it is hot, you definitely need to replenish your electrolytes. You might want to bring those Sport Beans with you. I just open them a bit before the race, so you don't have to worry about sweaty hands.
